This Week in ATX: May 25–31, 2026

Austin’s ending May the only way it knows how: loud music, downtown chaos, festival weekends, and enough alcohol-related decision-making to make Monday feel very unnecessary.

This week’s lineup is stacked with EDM crowds, mezcal tastings, afterparties, rooftop hangs, and one of Austin’s coolest entertainment festivals taking over downtown.

1. ATX Television Festival

Austin’s entertainment crowd officially takes over downtown this week. Actors, writers, creators, and film fans flood the city for screenings, cast reunions, creator panels, and late-night networking events.

Event Details

  • Where: Multiple venues across Downtown Austin
  • Dates: May 28–31, 2026
  • What To Expect: TV premieres, celebrity panels, creator Q&As, afterparties, and packed downtown bars afterward

Why It Made The List

ATX TV Fest always gives Austin a different energy for the weekend. Half the city suddenly feels like Hollywood with tacos and better parking.

2. ILLfest 2026

One of the biggest EDM and visual arts festivals in Texas is back, and this weekend is about to get very loud.

Event Details

  • Where: Travis County Expo Center — Austin
  • Dates: May 29–31, 2026
  • What To Expect: Massive EDM performances, art installations, lasers, food vendors, late-night festival crowds, and very little sleep

Why It Made The List

ILLfest weekends are basically a marathon. People go in saying:

“We’re only staying for a few sets.”

And then suddenly they’re watching sunrise TikToks from somebody’s apartment after the festival ends.

3. Austin Mezcal Festival

This one’s for the cocktail crowd. Mezcal tastings, food pairings, live music, and a room full of people pretending they can absolutely taste the “smoky undertones.”

Event Details

  • Where: Fair Market — 1100 East 5th Street, Austin, TX 78702
  • Dates: May 29–30, 2026
  • What To Expect: Mezcal tastings, cocktail bars, chef pairings, live music, and upscale nightlife energy

Why It Made The List

Mezcal events always start classy and somehow end with people making dangerous “one more drink” decisions because:

“It’s just a tasting.”

That is never how it ends.

Final Rally

This week’s Austin lineup is basically:

  • festival season fully activated
  • downtown afterparties everywhere
  • EDM crowds not sleeping
  • mezcal-fueled bad decisions
  • and entertainment-industry people taking over the city

And if your weekend plans start evolving into a full three-day recovery situation… make sure your Rally Gummies are already part of the strategy before Austin wins again.
